Ziel des Artikels ist, eine möglichst kompakte Zusammenfassung der wichtigsten Faktoren im Zusammenhang mit Ästhetik in der kieferorthopädischen Behandlungsplanung zu geben. Dabei wurde das Thema in 3 Teilbereiche aufgegliedert, nämlich die Makro-, Mikro- und die Mini-Ästhetik. In den einzelnen Unterpunkten wird dargelegt, welche klinischen Auffälligkeiten im Zuge der diagnostischen Erstuntersuchung erfasst werden sollten, um ein möglichst ästhetisch hochwertiges Planungskonzept zu erstellen und schlussendlich ebenso ein ästhetisch ansprechendes Ergebnis zu erreichen.
