Die computertomografische (CT) Untersuchung des Pferdekopfs ist mittlerweile auch am stehenden, sedierten Pferd möglich. In diesem Artikel wird ein Überblick über die Indikationen einer CT-Untersuchung, über die methodische Durchführung am stehenden Patienten sowie über die technischen Grundlagen und die digitale Bildverarbeitung gegeben. Anhand von Beispielbildern werden häufige computertomografische Befunde an den Zähnen, Zahnfächern und Nasennebenhöhlen aufgezeigt und daraus resultierende Diagnosen und therapierelevante Besonderheiten erläutert.
