Die Messung der Serum-Amyloid-A-Konzentration beim Pferd macht im akuten Entzündungsgeschehen immer dann Sinn, wenn entschieden werden muss, ob eine Infektion ursächlich zugrunde liegt oder nicht. Dies kann bei manchen Erkrankungen für das Pferd lebensrettend sein.
