Abstract

Myocardial perfusion scintigraphy continues to be an important diagnostic tool for the evaluation of coronary heart disease. With the introduction of CZT cameras and other technical innovations also in conventional gamma cameras such as IQ-SPECT technology and improved evaluation algorithms, the radiation exposure per examination has been reduced continuously. As a consequence, modern nuclear medicine perfusion imaging does not have to hide in terms of diagnostic specificity and sensitivity as well as the radiation exposure to the competing methods.
