Dear colleagues and ultrasound co-enthusiasts,

It was with great sadness that the Norwegian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Diagnostics and National Advisory Unit of Ultrasound in Gastroenterology made the difficult decision to cancel the Euroson 2020, which was to take place in Bergen, Norway. The organizing committee had done an extensive job, for several years, to ensure that we would host the “Best games ever”, however, our priority is the safety of our members and participants and the only appropriate course of action was to cancel.

The congress president, Prof. Odd Helge Gilja, together with scientific chair, Prof. Roald Flesland Havre and the rest of the committee had put an indescribable amount of effort, time and compassion to arrange a Euroson congress, that in my humble opinion would have gathered the ultrasound community and stimulated us all both scientifically and academically like never before. Hence, I would like to express my gratitude to you, the organizing committee, thank you!

Sitting here in the month of July and reflecting about what has happened over the last months saddens me. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on all of us. And as we are all colleagues across borders, we cheer for each other and think of each other. We are very conscious that many in our ultrasound family have been on the front line of the response to COVID-19 and are still responding to this global public health crisis. And my thoughts have been with you, all of you.

Many of you have taken the time to write and submit abstracts and applications. Others have been reviewing these. Thank you for that, for your effort and commitment. We are deeply aware of the value of Euroson, both in terms of knowledge exchange and sharing, but also in connecting experts and novels from around the world. Although we all missed the Euroson 2020, we hope that we can all meet at the next Euroson congress and at the upcoming WFUMB congress in Timisoara. Until then, I hope you stay safe during the upcoming months and I look forward to meeting you in the near future!
