The volume of hair transplantation procedures done via the follicular unit excision
(FUE) harvesting technique has increased tremendously over the last few years. With
this growth, new advances in technology have come along. The wide variety of instrumentation
and devices can be overwhelming, especially for a novice surgeon. This chapter aims
to discuss the relevant aspects of FUE and its relationship to the devices that are
used to harvest grafts. The development and overview of all the major types of instrumentation
will be reviewed.
