Introduction
Pancreatitis is one of the most common gastrointestinal causes of hospitalization, with gallstones being a leading cause [Forsmark, C.E. et al., N Engl J Med, 2016. 375(20): p. 1972–1981.]. Pancreatitis is defined as a primary sterile inflammation of the pancreas characterized by an inflammatory response with edema, vascular damage and cell death [Beyer, G., et al. Z Gastroenterol, 2022. 60(3): p. 419–521.].
