Zusammenfassung

Die Arbeit schildert den Prozess in einer Balintgruppe von der Abwehr von Angst, ausgelöst durch Themen wie Kontrollverlust, irrationale Wünsche und Hilflosigkeit, hin zu einer Reflexion über bedrohliche Aspekte des Arztseins. Dies führte zu einem authentischeren, realistischeren und flexibleren Selbstkonzept in der beruflichen Rolle, was mehr Toleranz für beunruhigende ­Erfahrungen erlaubt.

Abstract

The paper describes the process in a Balint group from defense of fear brought up by issues like loss of control, irrational wishes and helplessness to reflecting on threatening aspects of being a medical doctor. This lead to a more authentic, realistic and flexible self-concept in the professional role which allows more tolerance for disturbing experiences.
