The various methods of blood pressure measurement supplement one another meaningfully. They are of different importance and each has its own advantages and drawbacks. Whereas in manifest hypertonia ambulatory long–time blood pressure measurement is of primary importance for arriving at a safe diagnosis, telemetric blood pressure measurement seems very suitable for therapy control. Telemetric monitoring (telemetric data exchange) of self–measured blood pressure data is a very promising approach to improve long–term/permanent blood pressure adjustment e.g. in case hypertension proves difficult to improve properly on a long–term basis. This would be of particular importance for risk patients e.g. with hypertension which is difficult to adjust or who are suffering from chronic cardiac insufficiency and other indications.
