Euroson is returning to Edinburgh where it was last held in 2001. The style of the meeting will follow a similar pattern to the BMUS ASM in Liverpool in 2008 but quite different in some ways from the last time Euroson was in the UK.

There will be 3 parallel scientific sessions covering the hottest topics in Ultrasound at the moment over a 3 day conference.

It is expected that the majority of the speakers will be invited experts from all over Europe but with some from further afield. There will of course be room for proffered papers which are encouraged.

As well as the scientific sessions there will be a number of hands-on workshops some concentrating on basic ultrasound techniques but others on selected more advanced techniques. These would not be possible without the strong involvement and encouragement of the manufacturers and we are very grateful to them for this. These workshops also require an extensive faculty of teachers and we are indebted to them for their hard work and enthusiasm.

The National Point of Care Ultrasound group (NPoCUS) are holding their 2nd Annual Meeting during our meeting and we welcome them and hope they will enjoy being part of our meeting.

BMUS ASM would not be what it is were it not for the social programme which this year centres around a Ceilidh – a traditional Scottish entertainment involving dancing – always enjoyed by the majority.

We hope many delegates will come from all over Europe to enjoy the good science, the very popular workshops and the traditional Scottish hospitality.

Conference Social Evening - Céilidh at the EICC

7.30 pm - late Ticket price £35.00

Join us for our popular ASM social night; this year we are celebrating Euroson with a Scottish Céilidh. A Céilidh (pronounced 'Kay-lee') derives from the Gaelic word meaning a visit and means an evening of informal Scottish traditional dancing to live music. The dancing is led by a caller who will tell you how to do the steps and movements.

We have one of Edinburgh's most popular bands for the occasion. The lively Rerr Terr band are one of Scotland's tallest céilidh bands! In kilts they wi ll have delegates dancing jigs and reels even if you have never danced at a céilidh before. The author J K Rowling likes them so much she had them at her birthday party and the band have played for major charity balls for The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. Come along and learn some traditional celtic dancing and enjoy a delicious buffet meal, followed by a disco.
