Significance

The silica-supported palladium complex 2 was prepared by mixing phosphine-functionalized silica gel 1 and Pd(OA)2. The complex 2 catalyzed the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction of aryl boronic acids 3 with aryl halides 4 to afford the corresponding biaryls 5 in up to 94% yield (34 examples).
