ABSTRACT
Traumatic facial soft tissue injuries are commonly encountered in the emergency department
by plastic surgeons and other providers. Although rarely life-threatening, the treatment
of these injuries can be complex and may have significant impact on the patient's
facial function and aesthetics. This article provides a review of the relevant literature
related to this topic and describes the authors' approach to the evaluation and management
of the patient with facial soft tissue injuries.
