Zusammenfassung

Die Autoren berichten von ihrem Besuch im Stress-Zentrum Eriwan sowie von ihren Gesprächen mit dem dortigen Leiter am Rande der ersten Internationalen Balint-Konferenz in Eriwan, Armenien. Die Versorgung akut psychisch Kranker hat sich nach dem Zusammenbruch der Sowjetunion verbessert, das Behandlungsangebot ist breit gefächert, umfasst alle gängigen Psychopharmaka und auch psychotherapeutische Ansätze. Die Situation für chronisch und schwer psychisch Kranke hat sich dagegen durch Sparmaßnahmen und strukturelle Veränderungen eher verschlechtert.

Abstract

The authors report on their visit to the Stress Center in Yerevan and on discussions with its director on the sidelines of the First International Balint Conference in Yerevan, Armenia. Treatment for the acutely mentally ill has improved following the collapse of the Soviet Union. The range of treatments is more diversified, covering all major psychiatric medications as well as psychotherapeutic approaches. By contrast, the situation for the chronically and severely mentally ill has been made worse by austerity measures and structural changes.
