The Clearance of ¹³³Xenon from the Liver Intraportal Injection in Man

Summary

¹³³Xe dissolved in saline was injected into the portal vein in man. Hepatic blood flow was calculated from the disappearance rate of ¹³³Xe recorded with scintillation detectors placed over the liver. The results are discussed and related to simultaneous measurements of the pressure in the portal vein.

Résumé

Le ¹³³Xe en solution saline a été injecté dans la veine porte chez l’homme. La circulation hépatique était calculée par rapport à la vitesse de disparition du ¹³³Xe enrégistrée par des détecteurs à scintillation placés au dessus du foie. Les résultats obtenus sont discutés et mis en relation avec le mesurement simultané de la tension dans la veine porte.

Zusammenfassung

In NaCl gelöstes ¹³³Xe wurde beim Menschen in die Pfortader injiziert. Die Leberdurchblutung wurde aus der Verschwinderate des ¹³³Xe errechnet, die durch Szintillationsdetektoren über der Leber aufgezeichnet wurde. Es schließt sich eine Diskussion der Ergebnisse an, die in Beziehung gesetzt werden zu einer gleichzeitigen Messung des Pfortaderdruckes.
