Summary
A technique is described which simplifies the preparation of blood leukocytes and platelets for electron microscopy without sacrificing morphologic preservation. The method has the following advantages :
1. Simplicity of procedure without sacrifice of morphology.
2. Elimination of need for rapid processing and cumbersome ice water baths.
3. Samples may be shipped to other laboratories after initial fixation.
4. Applicable to cytochemical and immunochemical studies.
5. Fine structural preservation is excellent. Structures which are destroyed by cold are maintained by the method described.
