Bauchschmerzen sind ein sehr häufiges Symptom in der täglichen Praxis. Das Spektrum reicht von sogenannten funktionellen Beschwerden im Sinne eines Reizmagen-, Reizdarmsyndroms bis hin zum akuten Abdomen, z. B. auf dem Boden einer akuten Pankreatitis oder Cholecystitis. Nicht unerwähnt darf die Appendizitis bleiben.
