Die körperdysmorphe Störung: aktuelle Entwicklungen zu Diagnostik, Störungswissen und Therapie

Die körperdysmorphe Störung ist eine psychische Erkrankung, die häufig unentdeckt bleibt. Gründe dafür können ein hohes Schamgefühl vonseiten der Betroffenen sein, eine in den Vordergrund tretende komorbide Erkrankung oder ein fehlendes Screening vonseiten des Behandlers. Die Symptomatik der KDS führt zu einer enormen Beeinträchtigung und Belastung im Leben der Betroffenen, die durch kognitive Verzerrungen von Aufmerksamkeit, Wahrnehmung und Interpretation aufrechterhalten werden. Betroffene erleben einen enormen Leidensdruck, der einer Behandlung bedarf. Während von plastisch-chirurgischen Eingriffen abzuraten ist, wurden kognitiv verhaltenstherapeutische Methoden als wirksam nachgewiesen. Dabei stellt die Exposition vor dem Spiegel ein wichtiges Behandlungselement dar.
