Neue Möglichkeiten der Strahlentherapie – Update ASCO 2015

Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass der Informationsneugehalt der vorgestellten Studien doch eher relativ ist. Dass die Kombinationsbehandlung aus Radiochirurgie und Ganzhirnbestrahlung das Überleben nicht verbessert, wurde auch bereits früher nachgewiesen. Dass ältere Patienten schlechter von der Behandlung, insbesondere von Kombinationsbehandlungen aus Chemotherapie und Strahlentherapie profitieren, ist auch nicht ganz unbekannt. Wirklich neu ist das Ergebnis zur Kombinationsbehandlung beim High-risk-Prostatakarzinom, wo die Kombination aus Hormonen und Chemotherapie bessere Ergebnisse bringt quoad vitam als die bimodale Therapie. Ebenfalls neu ist die Erkenntnis, dass beim DCIS die zusätzliche Gabe von Aromatasehemmern bei Patienten, die jünger sind als 60 Jahre, in der Kombination mit Strahlentherapie bessere Ergebnisse erbringt als Tamoxifen.

In summary it can be stated that the information content of the presented studies is rather limited in relative terms. It has already been demonstrated that the combination treatment of radiosurgery with whole-brain radiation does not improve patient survival. It is also not completely unknown that older patients do not profit so much from therapy, especially combination treatments consisting of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Really new are the results from the combination treatment of high-risk prostate cancer patients where a combination of hormones and chemotherapy leads to better results than bimodal therapy. Also new is the discovery that, in cases of DCIS, the additional administration of aromatase inhibitors in combination with radiotherapy to patients under the age of 60 years leads to better results than tamoxifen therapy.
