Interventional radiologists (IRs) play an important role in the management of hepatobiliary diseases, and at times, this care can raise challenging ethical questions. These questions are not necessarily unique to biliary work, but the complexity and multidisciplinary nature of this care may make it more prone to certain questions such as those of tribalism, futility, and medical business ethics. Consider the following case.
