In medizinischen Anwendungen wird Polyetheretherketon (PEEK) als Material zur Bandscheibenstabilisierung oder für Hüftprothesen eingesetzt. Obwohl PEEK auch im dentalen Bereich seit längerer Zeit zur Verfügung steht und für die dentale Anwendung durchaus interessante Eigenschaften vorweisen kann, wurden bisher nur wenige wissenschaftliche Projekte und klinische Applikationen beschrieben. Prinzipiell kann man PEEK als temporäre Versorgung, Kronen und Brücken, für Teil- und Vollprothesen im Bereich des herausnehmbaren Zahnersatzes, für Splinte, Klammern, Implantate und Abutments sowie für festsitzenden Zahnersatz [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] verwenden.
