Die Leptospirose ist eine zoonotische Infektionskrankheit. Zur Diagnosestellung werden meist Antikörpernachweise mittels Mikroagglutinationstest (MAT) und Erregernachweise mittels Polymerase-Kettenreaktion (PCR) durchgeführt. Eine Leptospirose-Impfung kann zu positiven Resultaten im MAT führen und damit dessen Interpretation erschweren. Nach Möglichkeit sollte ein Serumpaar mittels MAT untersucht werden. Als Probenmaterial für die PCR eignen sich Harn und Vollblut, wobei nur ein positives Ergebnis beweisend ist.
