Besteht bei einem Patienten der Verdacht auf eine Infektion der Blutstrombahn, ist die Blutkultur der diagnostische Goldstandard. Mit ihr können Krankheitserreger nachgewiesen, identifiziert und im Anschluss gezielt behandelt werden.
