Abstract

The availability of modern ultrasound machines with high resolution scanners and sensitive Doppler functions facilitates the investigation of joints and tendons in different conditions. It should be the first diagnostic step in musculoskeletal diseases which is done in a structured sequence according to official guidelines.

Bei orthopädischen und rheumatologischen Fragestellungen kommt sie oft als erste diagnostische bildgebende Methode zum Einsatz: Die sonografische Untersuchung von Gelenken und Sehnen. Da leistungsfähige Ultraschallgeräte heute weit verbreitet sind, kann auch der nicht-Facharzt die Sonografie zur Primärdiagnostik von Beschwerden am Bewegungsapparat einsetzen. Bisher wird diese Möglichkeit aber meist noch zu wenig genutzt.
