Eine Kopf- oder Bauchentscheidung zu treffen suggeriert, dass Emotion und Kognition unabhängige Systeme sind. Wie ist die Beziehung jedoch wirklich? Dienen Emotionen einem Zweck? Wie werden Emotionen erlebt, wie werden sie erzeugt und wie können sie mit Verhalten und psychischen Erkrankungen in Verbindung gebracht werden? Der Beitrag zeigt die Funktion von Emotionen und wie fehlangepasste Emotionen in der Therapie berücksichtigt werden können.
