Purpose: To study the role of endovascular embolization (emborrhoid) using coils and PVA particles in treatment of hemorrhoids

Materials and Methods: Hemorrhoids is a well-researched pathology. However, with advent of pin hole interventions, management of hemorrhoids have become less painful. in this study we evaluate role of endovascular embolization (emborrhoid) using coils in treatment of hemorrhoids.

Results: A total of 16 patients with chronic per rectal bleeding were treated using the emborrhoid technique. This treatment was decided by a multidisciplinary team. Five patients underwent previous surgery. The procedure was performed with transfemoral approach. Hemorrhoidal arteries were super selectively catheterized with microcatheter and embolized with pushable microcoils and Embospheres. No significant adverse complication was documented.

Conclusion: Technical success in this procedure was 100%. Clinical improvement was observed in 12 cases. Three cases underwent repeat embolization. One patient did not want to undergo repeat embolization. no complication was observed. Chronic pain improved in 15 patients after embolization.
