NURSING CARE IN THE EVALUATION OF MULTIDIMENSIONALITY OF ONCOLOGICAL PAIN

Introduction: Cancer pain adds up to several aspects, basing it on the emotional, social, and spiritual consequences of exposure to pain experience. Objective: To evaluate the pain of cancer patients treated at the Clinic of pain Nursing Clinic at a cancer hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Method: This is a retrospective analytical study with a quantitative approach, had variables dependent on the pain of the oncologic patient and independent variables the data of the clinical evaluation obtained during the nursing consultation and the drug therapy used in the control of cancer pain. We obtained a waiver from the Research Ethics Committee to sign the Free and Informed Consent Term, considering that the research was performed with secondary data from patients' records that are regularly treated at the Nursing Clinic of Pain. Results: A total of 50 patients were treated at the outpatient clinic of the pain clinic. With sociodemographic data, 54% were alive and 46% had already died. Male people with 66% and female audience with 34%. Of this population, only 1% presented as a predisposing factor Diabetes Mellitus. The hypertension factor was 11% and 3% presented both comorbidities. Among the neoplasms, prostate neoplasms were recorded with 37%, oral cavity 4%, lung 10%, breast 8%, head and neck neoplasias 20%, cervix 6% and neoplasias of ovary, multiple myeloma, colon, rectum, skin, renal, gastric a representation of 2% each. It has been observed that the time of onset of pain has varied according to its diagnoses being in average from 1 to 3 years, being characterized as continuous or comes and goes independently of something, interfering in its activities. There was a variation in the intensity of the pain, being represented by 40% with category 4, 20% in category 5, category 7 with a total of 10% and the other 20% were distributed among the other levels of pain. Among the drugs used during the evaluation in the pain clinic the ones that stood out the most were the weak opioids, representing a total of 74% and 26% were representing with the strong opioids. The management and evaluation of the nursing team in front of the patient in the pain clinic, allowed in both cases, better control of pain, as well as information about the guidelines needed for the cancer patient. Conclusion: The multiprofessional project in Oncology provided a better quality of life and dignity in the treatment and follow-up of cancer patients.
