Welcome to the last issue of JDEP for 2025. This issue includes fewer than usual articles, as it dedicates a substantial number of pages to the proceedings of the Gulf Association of Endocrinology and Diabetes (GAED) Annual Clinical Congress 2025.

An editorial commentary attempts to consolidate all the published and presented work on the latest epidemiological study of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases in type 2 diabetes in the Middle East and Africa, drawing on insights from the PACT-MEA Study. It also compares and contrasts PACT-MEA with the previous similar study (DISCOVER). The similar objectives and different implementations make them complementary to each other. The two original articles address different aspects of diabetes and endocrine practice. The first describes and analyzes the risk factors associated with poor glycemic control among individuals with diabetes in Atbara, Sudan. The study offers insights into the challenges of diabetes care in areas affected by armed conflicts and civil unrest. The second article documents the management of prolactinoma during pregnancy by physicians from the Middle East and North Africa, employing a case-based survey approach, and compares it with a Canadian study of similar objectives. Two case reports provide some educational opportunities by describing a delayed post-COVID-19 silent thyroiditis and a young patient with HNF1A-MODY presenting with an unusually high HbA1c.

The GAED dossier includes the State of the Association by its sitting president and the advance abstracts of the Free Communications of The Gulf Association of Endocrinology and Diabetes Clinical Congress held on 24 to 25 October, 2025 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

We hope you enjoy and benefit from the contents of this issue, and we welcome your feedback and look forward to your continued support.
