How can CH educational institutes prepare physiotherapy students to implement advanced practice roles
Autoren
Background The development of physiotherapy towards evidence-based practice and the integration of advanced practice (AP) roles have significantly enhanced the profession in Switzerland. However, challenges such as standardising competencies and achieving legal recognition remain. Collaboration among stakeholders is crucial for establishing structured pathways and competency frameworks, shaping a future where physiotherapists play integral roles in healthcare innovation.
Currently, the roles of Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapists (APP) in Switzerland lack legal regulation under the existing federal health profession legislation. This commentary discusses the current status of APP in Switzerland compared to other countries. It also explores the necessary development, implementation, scope, and extent of AP in physiotherapy within the country. Furthermore, the paper examines how educational programs can be tailored to prepare physiotherapy students for the future of AP in Switzerland. www.link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12909-024-06247-8
