Erfolge bei der Behandlung von funktionellen und chronischen Darmbeschwerden

Zusammenfassung

Typische Erkrankungen, die mit intestinalen Schleimhautschädigungen einhergehen, sind: chronisch-entzündliche Darmerkrankungen (Morbus Crohn, Colitis ulcerosa), entzündliche Darmerkrankungen infolge von Antibiotika-, Strahlen- oder Chemotherapie sowie Allergien, welche als Folge der geschädigten Darmbarriere entstehen. Durch eine Stabilisierung der Darmschleimhaut und die Wiederherstellung eines gesunden Darmmilieus können diese Erkrankungen gelindert oder geheilt werden.

Die Schädigung der Darmschleimhaut spielt auch bei der Pathogenese funktioneller Darmerkrankungen eine wichtige Rolle, die Relevanz von Schleimhautläsionen bei der etablierten Erkrankung wird hingegen kontrovers diskutiert. In einer neuen Beobachtungsstudie wurden 94% der ReizdarmpatientInnen mit Stuhlgangsunregelmäßigkeiten durch eine Schleimhauttherapie mit einem Extrakt aus E. colierfolgreich behandelt. Die gute Verträglichkeit dieser biologischen Therapie ist gerade bei dem hier untersuchten pädiatrischen Patientengut von hervorragender Bedeutung.

Abstract

Lesions of the intestinal lining play a crucial role in illnesses such as idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis), inflammatory bowel due to treatments with antibiotics, cytostatic agents or radiation as well as allergies in which an impaired intestinal mucosal barrier plays a pathogenic role. Through stabilisation of the intestinal mucous membrane and restoration of a physiologic intestinal ecology it is possible to alleviate or cure these diseases.

Mucosal damage of the gut also plays an important role in the pathogenesis of functional intestinal diseases. The relevance of mucosal lesions in established disease is controversial though. In a recent pharmacovigilance study 94% of the patients with irregular defacation improved due to treatment with an E. coli extract. The excellent tolerability of this biological therapy is particularly important in the pediatric patients evaluated in this study.
