Abstract

Low-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma of the chest wall is a rare tumor entity. We report a case in a 58-year-old patient in whom en-bloc resection of the tumor and reconstruction of the chest wall was performed. Initially no further adjuvant treatment was established. Due to recurrence, the patient underwent resection of the lower chest-/upper abdominal wall and pericardial resection. Low-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma arise from myofibroblasts, which have ultrastructural and physiological features of both fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells. Even though metastatic spread seems to be seldom, there is great tendency for local recurrence.
