Summary
The effect of 5 different bone graft materials on the proliferation patterns of human
osteoblasts were investigated in-vitro by the WST-1-Test and determination of alkaline
phosphatase. The cultures were examined for cell growth behavior and morphology by
phase contrast light and scanning electron microscopy. The comparison for the various
materials showed the highest proliferation and differentiation rate for PepGen P-15™
followed by Osteograf®/N, Algipore® and BioBase®. BioOss® showed the lowest. The demonstrated
study design seems to be beneficial for a standardized comparison of osteoconductive
bone graft materials in-vitro.
