Auch in diesem Jahr wurde auf der DDW eine Vielzahl endoskopischer Abstracts präsentiert und wie immer erschlägt den Ankommenden die Flut, der oralen und Poster-Präsentationen. Die Arbeit der Selektion muss zunehmend selbst erledigt werden, da teilweise große und randomisierte (v. a. außeramerikanische) Studien von durchaus erheblicher klinischer Relevanz in den Poster-Sitzungen versteckt sind, viele Vorträge dagegen Fallserien und Erfahrungsberichte enthalten, deren wissenschaftliche Qualität immer wieder zu Diskussionen Anlass gibt. Wie immer aber sind solche Meinungen und die Auswahl der Abstracts - auf Seiten des Selektionskomitees wie auch des Autors dieses Berichts - notwendigerweise subjektiv, so dass auch der nachfolgende Bericht keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit erheben kann. Die Originalabstracts sind in den Abstract-Ausgaben der Zeitschriften Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (2004; Volume 59, Heft 5/April, S. AB 1 - 310) und Gastroenterology (2004; Volume 126, Heft 4/Supplement 2/April, S. A1-A815) und auf den Internetseiten der Zeitschriften (zumindest bei Ersterer) nachzulesen.
