Summary

The controversial nature of treatment for displaced intraarticular calcaneal fractures has led to numerous publications. Amidst the debate, a few studies have reported the association between patient and injury characteristics and outcome. Factors reported to be associated with a poor outcome included worker s compensation status, Böhler s angle < 0° at fracture presentation, male sex, heavy-labor employment, bilateral calcaneal fracture, and Sander s classification type IV fracture.
