Zusammenfassung
Die Deutsche Marine, mittlerweile weltweit in friedenssichernden Missionen beteiligt,
setzt zur Auftragserfüllung spezialisierte Taucher ein. Schwimmtaucher, Helmtaucher,
Summary
The management of diving accidents in the german navy is presented within the framework
of an almost authentic case-report. Divers suffer illnesses and injuries for preventable
reasons. These include: failure to observe regulations and instructions, the failure
of others to carry out correct drills; or the inadequate maintenances, to repair or
testing of breathing apparatus or equipment. Some incidents occur due to other factors.
For example, decompression illness may arise from divers within accepted decompression
profile and non-diving medical problems may present for the first time underwater.
Furthermore, divers are vulnerable to unpredictable changes in the elements. When
accidents or incidents do occur, there are very few that can not be managed successfully
if the right facilities and skills are available. The emergency handling of a casualty
may be divided into following phases: rescue, assessment, treatment and evacuation.
The most important therapy is oxygen resuscitation with the highest possible concentation
and volume delivered. The definitive treatment is rapid recompression with hyperbaric
oxygen therapy.
