Author summary

Posttraumatic arthritis frequently occurs following intraarticular fractures of the distal part of the radius in young adults. These fractures are difficult to manage and the most important factor in the development of posttraumatic arthritis was a failure to achieve or maintain congruity of the articular surface of the distal part of the radius until the time of union of the fracture.
