Anorectal Anomalies- International Classification

Abstract

80 patients with anorectal anomalies were admitted to the Paediatric Surgical Service of the National Hospital of Norway during the five year period 1970 - 74. The anomalies were classified according to the International Classification which was found to be of obvious value in comparing material and results.

Intermediate and high deformities were generally treated with an initial colostomy and a subsequent sacroperineal pullthrough operation.

The low anomalies were generally treated with an anoplasty in two procedures.

Patients with poor functional results and incontinence can be improved with free muscle transplantation.

Zusammenfassung

80 Patienten wurden in der 5-Jahres-Periode von 1970 - 1974 mit anorektalen Anomalien in das Paediatric Surgical Service des National Hospital of Norway aufgenommen. Die Anomalien wurden nach der Internationalen Klassifikation aufgeschlüsselt. Wir fanden, daß diese Klassifikation bei dem Vergleich des Materials und der Ergebnisse wertvoll ist. Intermediäre und hohe Deformitäten wurden im allgemeinen mit einer initialen Kolostomie und einer späteren sakroperinealen Durchzugsoperation behandelt. Die tiefen Anomalien wurden im allgemeinen mit einer Anoplastik behandelt.

Bei Patienten mit schlechtem funktionellem Ergebnis und mit Inkontinenz kann die freie Muskeltransplantation eine Verbesserung bringen.
