Aza-Wittig reaction of iminophosphorane 2, derived from methyl 3-aminopyrazine-2-carboxylate 1, with isocyanates followed by addition of alcohol or amine provided a novel synthetic route to 2,3-disubstituted 4(3H)-pteridinones.
