Art in Endoscopy: “Disrupted Coral at the Great ‘Barrett’ Reef”
Publication History
Publication Date:
25 February 2020 (online)

A neoplastic area in a Barrett’s esophagus is seen in the upper right quadrant of this image, in obvious contrast to the normal surrounding mucosa. The neoplastic lesion is clearly demarcated here by blue light imaging in magnification mode, which allows better visualization of mucosal and vascular patterns. The optical chromoscopy technique is provided by the Fujifilm ELUXEO 7000 endoscopy system.

“Art in endoscopy” is an initiative of four gastroenterologists in training that aims to display examples of the incidentally beautiful images that are sometimes encountered in regular endoscopic practice.
