Art in Endoscopy: “A Monument to Cold Snare Polypectomy”
Following cold snare polypectomy of an 8-mm (0-IIa) low grade dysplastic adenoma in the ascending colon, this protrusion was seen in the defect under white light. It has recently been shown that in 80 % of cases protrusions within the cold snare polypectomy defect contain both submucosa and muscularis mucosa, but no residual polyp tissue or large vascular structures. Such protrusions are a common phenomenon after cold snare polypectomy (occurring in 14 % of cases) and are associated with polyp size of 6 mm or more.
