Marten A. Lantinga et al. Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on gastrointestinal endoscopy in the Netherlands: analysis of a prospective endoscopy database.

This national database audit from 15 hospitals in the Netherlands showed a significant decrease in the number of endoscopies performed during the COVID-19 lockdown. There were significantly fewer gastrointestinal cancer diagnoses, particularly colon cancer. Follow-up will reveal whether this has affected patients’ long-term prognoses.
