Joan Tosca et al. Caustic ingestion: development and validation of a prognostic score

In a long-term cohort study, 469 cases of caustic ingestion were included over a period of 22 years. A prognostic score was developed showing that ingestion of acid substances, neutrophil count, metabolic acidosis, and severity of „endoscopic injury are independent risk factors for poor outcome.
