Alain M. Schoepfer et al. Clinical effectiveness of esophageal stricture dilation using an improved endoscopic attachment cap in adults with eosinophilic esophagitis

In this prospective study, esophageal strictures in 60 patients with eosinophilic esophagitis were dilated with an improved endoscopic attachment cap. Dilation was successful in all patients, with a increase in median esophageal diameter from 12 mm to 16 mm. Symptoms had significantly improved 2 weeks after dilation. Postdilation pain was seen in a third of patients, but no severe adverse events were reported. No cap detached during the procedure. The improved attachment appears to be clinically effective and an environmentally friendly option.
