Chronic treatment with diethylstilbestrol (DES) and polydiethylstilbestrol phosphate
produces renal tumors in male hamsters. The antiestrogen nafoxidine administered simultaneously
with DES completely inhibits tumor formation. Hepatic glucuronyltransferase activity
towards DES decreases in hamsters treated chronically with DES; in hamsters treated
with DES and nafoxidine the activity is not modified. The presence of renal tumor
results in an increase of activity.
