Welcome to Part II of the two-set edition of Seminars in Hearing dedicated to tinnitus research, assessment, and treatment. This issue provides a range of evidence describing tinnitus as aberrant neural activity in the central auditory system. The articles discuss a variety of modulators of tinnitus that point to the very complicated interactions in the brain that produce the final perception of and reaction to tinnitus. In addition, several articles include suggestions related to treating tinnitus predicated on the current evidence base from animal and human models.
