Summary

Methods are reported by which probes can be introduced into all parts of the colon. Thus segments of the large bowel previously not accessible to bioptic and endoscopic procedures can be examined.

According to our own experience and in coincidence with results of other authors intestinal intubation represents a practical method of low risk to allow probing of the proximal colon. With the aid of intestinal intubation endoscopy of the large bowel by full-flexible fiberscopes can be performed.
