Therapeutic Snare-Ectomy of an Early Carcinoma in the Cardia

Summary

In a 70-year-old man, a three-stage endoscopic snare-ectomy lead to the complete removal of a Type I early carcinoma from the region of the cardia. The physical condition of the patient precluded the use of any other procedure. The technique of gastroscopic snare-ectomy is not only an accurate diagnostic method, but at the same time, in special cases, offers therapeutic possibilities.

Zusammenfassung

Bei einem 70jährigen Mann führte eine dreizeitige endoskopische Schlingenektomie zur vollständigen Entfernung eines Frühkarzinoms (Typ I) der Kardia. Der schlechte Allgemeinzustand des Patienten verbot jedes andere Vorgehen. Die endoskopische Schlingenektomie ist somit nicht nur eine gute diagnostische Methode, sondern bei besonderen Fällen gleichzeitig eine therapeutische Möglichkeit.
