Recurrent Symptomatic Spontaneous Pneumothorax Caused by Bronchial Adenoma

Summary

Symptomatic spontaneous pneumothorax may complicate nearly all pleural or pulmonary diseases. Yet easiliy to be understood pathomechanically, bronchial adenoma as the primary disease of pneumothorax has not been mentioned very often in detailed reports of the concerned literature. In a 21-year-old female suffering from recurrent pneumothorax finally the diagnosis of bronchial adenoma was stated and causal surgical treatment could be done succesfully.

Zusammenfassung

Nahezu jede Erkrankung der Lungen oder der Pleura kann durch einen symptomatischen Spontanpneumothorax kompliziert werden. Trotz des leicht verständlichen Pathomechanismus wird das Bronchialadenom als Ursache eines Pneumothorax jedoch selbst in ausführlichen Berichten kaum erwähnt. Bei einer 21jährigen Frau mit rezidivierendem Pneumothorax konnte schließlich endoskopisch die Diagnose eines Bronchialadenoms gesichert und eine erfolgreiche chirurgische Kausaltherapie durchgeführt werden.
