The 52 patients with ectopic pancreas were confirmed by EUS and then took pathological examination in our Digestive Endoscopy Center, their EUS images were retrospectively analyzed and the accuracy of diagnosis was evaluated.
Results:
41 patients were diagnosis ectopic pancreas in 52 cases who took pathologic examination, diagnostic accordance rate of EUS was 78.85%. The remaining 6 cases were stromal tumors, 4 cases were leiomyoma, 1 case was nerve sheath tumor. The appearances of ectopic pancreas in upper gastrointestinal tract were eminence lesion, 37 cases located in gastric antrum, 2 in duodenum, 1 in gastric body and 1 in gastric fundus;1 cases showed high level echo, 10 of medium echo, 18 of low level echo and 12 of mixed echo; 2 cases were deep to mucosal layer, 8 to muscularis mucosae, 30 to submucosa and 1 to muscularis propria. 15 cases of submucosal tumor were dissected by endoscope, 2 was bleeding and the other had no complications, followed-up for more than six months, one relapsed, the other had no recurrence and wound healing.
Conclusion:
EUS is valuable in the diagnosis of ectopic pancreas in upper gastrointestinal tract. The information of EUS can decide the suitable therapeutic regimen for further treatment, and the treatment with endoscope is safety.
