Summary

For centuries, phytotherapy was commonly used in veterinary as well as human medicine. That was until about 60 years ago when it was largely replaced by synthetic drugs. However, given the increase in multifactorial diseases, such as allergies and autoimmune diseases, we see phytotherapy gaining importance once again due to its ability to regulate the immune system.
