Kopfschmerz aus āyurvedischer Sicht

Zusammenfassung

In der altindischen Heilkunde Āyurveda unterscheidet man aufgrund der Symptomatik 11 verschiedene Arten von Kopfschmerzen. Die spezifische Differenzialdiagnose dieser Kopfschmerzarten wird beschrieben ebenso wie allgemeine und spezifische Therapieansätze. Bei den spezifischen Empfehlungen zur Diätetik muss neben der Erkrankung auch immer die Grundkonstitution des Patienten berücksichtigt werden. Die therapeutischen Vorgehensweisen richten sich zudem nach der Differenzialdiagnose. Es kommen sowohl phytotherapeutische Präparationen zum Einsatz als auch spezifische Öl- und Wärmeanwendungen sowie die nasale Instillation von medizinierten Ölen. Eine Fallbeschreibung aus der āyurvedischen Praxis in Deutschland zeigt, wie im Einzelfall vorgegangen werden kann.

Abstract

In Āyurveda, the traditional medical system of South Asia, 11 different types of headache are differentiated based on a subtle evaluation of symptoms. The specific diagnosis of the different types of headache is described as well as general and specific therapeutic strategies. With regard to dietetic recommendations the patient‘s individual constitution must be taken into consideration in addition to the specific disease. Specific therapy is based on the type of headache. Apart from herbal preparations taken orally the therapy may consist of specific oil- and sudation-therapies and nasal application of medicated oils. A case-study from āyurvedic practice in Germany may illustrate a specific therapeutic procedure.
